MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID
Anyone can register to take a mental health first aid training course. Prices range from roughly $90-170. This group offers Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) to teach adult learners how to assist fellow adults, while Youth MHFA courses teach adult learners how to assist adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18. Courses are available in-person through an Instructor-led training, partially in-person (called Blended In-person) or completely virtually (called Blended Virtual). The University of San Diego offers a more rigorous Mental Health First Response Certificate, with a particular focus aimed at teachers and administrators. The 2-1-1 Broward Teenspace Hotline is a safe, anonymous & confidential service for teens. They understand that teens’ problems are real and important, and treats them with empathy and respect respect while empowering them with answers, support, and hope.
10 Tips for Talking to Your Teen About Their Mental Health (JED Foundation)
HOPE Sunshine Clubs - These clubs help teens provide service and peer support to one another. The aim for these clubs is to provide students with a safe environment where they can seek support, advice and mentoring to help guide them through difficult times, and bring awareness to topics they may not often talk about. For Educators - SPTS offers a free, online training for educators for the prevention of teen suicide. It provides two hours of professional development credit to educators at the discretion of your local school district, but is open to anyone who is interested in reviewing current strategies for youth suicide prevention in schools. For Parents - Created by the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS), Not My Kid: What Every Parent Should Know is an online learning experience that features videos of parents from culturally diverse backgrounds asking mental health professionals a variety of common questions about youth suicide.
VETERANS
Operation Sacred Trust is a Fort Lauderdale based program that has helped prevent and end homelessness for thousands of Veterans. They have Care Team Managers who are able to help veterans navigate state and federal benefit challenges, rapidly access financial assistance, locate and obtain housing, mediate and negotiate with landlords, pursue employment, and succeed in a wide range of other pursuits that can permanently end the threat or tragedy of homelessness.

Compassionate Friends - Find a local support group chapter for in person meet ups or search their online support groups. You can also call at (763) 542-8528.Mental Health America LOSS Team (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) - The LOSS program immediately offers survivors of suicide support services designed to help them cope with the impact of a loved one’s death by suicide. The LOSS Team is set up to mitigate the aftermath of a death by suicide by offering intervention on a supportive basis. Survivors of death by suicide represent a very high risk of death by suicide based on several factors including grief, guilt, shame and depression. Family members and other survivors of suicide can ask the difficult questions and expect answers that are straightforward and clearly defined without ambiguity or judgement. By utilizing a clinical director and a peer specialist, the LOSS team connects with families and individuals dealing with tragedy in an empathic and humane way. The LOSS Team is equipped to work with the family and loved ones to help guide them through the process of grief and link them to other services to aid in the aftermath.
